(7) Improving your first touch drill

Training Drills

The video is taken from youtube. We will be doing this in training. You will need to set your own equipment up so make sure you watch carefully to see what is being used. You will be expected to get on with the drill by yourself when i tell you to. I will put you into pairs.

Warning !!

Anybody who doesn't know what they are doing will do some fitness training instead while this is taking place so make sure you've looked at the blog when I tell you to. Anyone not knowing what they are doing two weeks on the trot will sit the session out. You've been warned!!

You will put your own equipment away again afterwards neat and tidy.

We only have 1 hour to cover a lot of things so I don't want any time wasters.

Remember !!

The more you learn at home and the quicker we get on with it means more time for a game at the end.

Grumble over.

Top Tips

  1. You should try to only have 2 touches.
  2. The first one should push the ball out of your feet towards the direction you want to go.
  3. The second should be a good quality pass to a team mate or space for a team mate to run onto.
  4. Look around you for the best passing options before the ball comes to you so you already know what your going to do next. Paul Scholes is a brilliant example of a player that is always looking for his next move before he gets the ball.
