Four players make a diamond shape. One forward, one back and two either side. They spread out to make a big space between them to pass the ball through.
In this drill the attacking players stand on the outside of a square and are not allowed to come inside. They have to move side to side of the square to make space for a team mate to pass to them. Two defenders in the middle try to close them down quickly.
Attackers - How many passes can you do?
Defenders - How quickly can you get the ball?
Tips for Attackers
- 1. Move to help the player with the ball find you.
- 2. Pass between the defenders when safe to do so.
- 3. Try to play maximum of two touch.
Tips for Defenders
- 1 Close the ball down quickly
- 2 One player close the ball down.
- 3 The other close off the space.
